Acts 10 verses 17 - 20

(17)   Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

(18)   And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

(19)   While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

(20)   Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.  (KJV)

(17)   And as Peter was doubting within himself what the vision which he saw might be, even behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius stood on the porch asking out the house of Simon.

(18)   And calling out, they inquired if Simon being surnamed Peter is lodged here.

(19)   And as Peter pondered concerning the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men are seeking you.

(20)   But rising up, go down and go with them, not discriminating, because I have sent them.    (IB)

Retranslation:   As Peter, confused about the vision he saw, wonders what it might mean, Lo! The three men sent from the [Gentile and Roman occupier, but God-fearing and prayerful] Cornelius stand at his gate, and inquire for his house.

Retranslation (verse 18 only): And spiritually addressing Simon, surnamed Peter, they inquire if the one who listens and hears, thus invoking revelation, is a guest there.

Retranslation (verse 19 only): Peter practicing the very meaning of the spiritual experience: Kill and eat, kills his false self that desires to be busy doing worldly things and busies himself instead with partaking, pondering, or eating again of the spiritual spectacle or experience. He is in-spirited: In-Spirit, and thus dead to the mortal world’s beliefs. As he considers the experience thoroughly, piercing through mortal beliefs, God says to him, Pay attention! Three men seek to worship at thy house. 

Retranslation (verse 20 only): Continue to abide with Me, but nevertheless descend and take a journey with them as equals and associates, and be instrumental to them, and do not----in even one thing----discriminate against them, do not oppose, nor judge, nor contend against them for I have sent them on this mission to set them at liberty!

NOTE on the meaning of Peter’s name:  “Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God,” Peter states (Matt 16:16), and Jesus spiritually interprets his name when he says: “for flesh and blood did not reveal this unto you, but my Father which is in heaven.”  It was upon this “rock” of revelation, i.e. direct communion with the Holy Spirit, that Jesus said his “church” would be built upon.
