Acts 10 verses 33 - 35

(35) But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Retranslation (verse 34 only): Peter speaks in the discerning language of the Spirit, explaining his vision, saying, “This is what I know to be true: The Divine does not exhibit partiality; It does not incline to favor one individual or nation more than another. Not influenced by personal attachment, It is not biased; Its judgment is not warped; thus, it affords the advantages of success equally to all.”
Retranslation (verse 35 only): Indeed all races, tribes, and peoples,----Jewish and non-Jewish alike,----- anyone who reveres God and and is committed to laboring for Christian justification or living in conformity with the laws of God, is approved of Her.

NOTE on prostasso*:
“Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things
that are commanded (prostasso) thee of God. (Acts 10:33)
This word prostasso means commanded in the sense of set in order or arranged. When I read this sentence as I retranslated it above, it made me think of the definition of system: an assemblage of things adjusted into a regular whole. I’m going to define a number of words that form a dazzling web of “church” and pardon me but I am going to leave out quotation marks. All the definitions are from the 1828 Webster’s.
Assembling is collecting a number of individuals or particulars into one place, or body; bringing or calling together; convening; congregating.
Collecting is drawing together, bringing into united action; as, collecting all the strength, or all the powers of the mind; gaining by information or observation; gathering from premises; inferring as consequences; assembling or bringing together; as, collecting ideas.
To collect one’s self means to recover from a disconcerted state; to gain command over thoughts when dispersed; over the passions when tumultuous; or over the mind when dismayed. When one is collected, one has recovered from surprise or dismay and is not disconcerted, but rather cool, firm, and prepared.
The word prostasso is synonymous with adjust. To adjust is to put in order; to regulate or reduce to a system; as, to adjust a scheme or adjust affairs. To make accurate; to settle or bring to a satisfactory state. To make exact; to fit; to make correspondent, or conformable; as, to adjust a garment to the body, an event to the prediction, or things to a standard.
Prostasso means “to arrange towards, i.e. enjoin.” To arrange is to set in order; adjust; settle; prepare; to dispose the parts of a whole in a manner intended, or best suited for the purpose. To enjoin is to order or direct with urgency; to admonish or instruct with authority. Webster’s says of enjoin “this word is more authoritative than direct, and less imperious than command. It has the force of pressing admonition with authority; as, a parent enjoins on his children the duty of obedience.”
The system is God’s Mind, the Science or knowing of the Christ or divine manifestation, and we are Its Ideas, arranged, prostasso, to Its purpose, settled and brought into a satisfactory state. So, not only is Peter “commanded”, Cornelius and all his friends are going to be divinely adjusted as well. Let’s see what this adjustment might be! Do you think that the purpose of church might be this gathering together to help each other accept God’s adjustment? Let’s see what God directs Peter to do.
Mary Baker Eddy writes of page 492 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “God is Mind, and God is infinite; hence all is Mind. On this statement rests the Science of being, and the Principle of this Science is divine, demonstrating harmony and immortality.” (Emphasis added.)
And on page 128, she writes, “The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man.” (Emphasis added.)
